Open House Fridays!
Our absolute favorite outreach, Open Source opens its workshop doors to teams every Friday night. This provides teams with the opportunity to practice with a full field of robots in a low-stress environment.
Mentoring!
Open Source currently mentors eight FTC Teams. Our focus is on teaching programming and build skills. Most of our mentoring is in-person, hands-on instruction, but we also respond to emails and phone calls every day.Â
Summer Camps!
Open Source partnered with the Willis Independent School District to offer two weeks of summer camps focused on robotics. Each week, Open Source led the campers in guided STEM and robotics activities, concluding with a demonstration of our competition bot.
Festivals, Libraries, Schools & More.
Open Source provides STEM activities and robot demonstrations at various events throughout the year. We love interacting with kids in the community to raise STEM awareness and promote FIRST values.
Little Free Library
Open Source built and maintains the Little Free Library Charter #185390 near 13653 Running Bear Drive in Willis, Texas.
Girls Empowerment Network
Affirmation Bookmarks created by Open Source aim to inspire, encourage, and uplift girls throughout our community. They are distributed at We Are Girls Conferences by Girls Empowerment Network volunteers.
SPLAShTX
SPLASh is creating a cleaner environment for people, birds, and other wildlife in the greater Houston-Galveston region through community science, education, and outreach. Open Source volunteers at several events a year, removing hundreds of pounds of trash from beaches.
Lasagna Love
Open Source and Lasagna Love hope to "feed families, spread kindness, [and] strengthen communities" one home-cooked meal at a time.
